This is very important topic to share because this is problem of every of almost every smartphone user. There are lots of complaints about huge number of smartphones like Lenovo K3 Note , Micromax Yureka and Yureka Plus, Yuphoria , Spark, Lenovo A6000 plus , Lenovo A7000, Xiaomi Mi4i , Xiaomi Mi4 and Redmi 2 One Plus 3 and many 4G phones. This is unavoidable. But phone overheating can be a serious issue, damaging devices and affecting performance.
Reasons for over heating of Smartphone
If your device is experiencing overheating, it could be for a number of solvable reasons. These heating may because of overloading the hardware. Using your phone up to extreme for too long is one of the quickest ways to overheat your phone. Multitasking, extra features and functions, like widgets, and, for whatever reason, your phone having to check its connectivity – be it Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, whatever – all require processing power – warming the SoC – and more electricity – warming the battery. According to me this overheating problem is more in Snapdragon processor containing phone.
Some other reason may be leaving your phone in sunlight , overcharging of phone , excess use for long time
Damages due to overheating
Overheating can cause serious damage to your phone by damaging processor RAM and most important battery. Overheating can damage SoC (SoC controls heating). Damage of processor slows down your phone and it can make your phone sometime stuck which is very irritating for me.
Modern Smartphone uses Lithium-Ion battery which allows both electric current in (for charging)and out (for phone use). Normally a phone's battery works for 2 to 3 years.
Avoiding Overheating
Avoid Using Your Phone During Charging
You must not play games or use data to watch videos when your smartphone is charging; as processor will come under huge amount of stress and definitely all of the smartphone will heat up due to this.
Long Duration Gaming And Watching Video
Try to avoid gaming for longer duration even the best smartphones get heated up after playing graphics intensive games. If there is less space for the heat to escape due to design or provisioning of vents the smartphone gets heated up. Taking a break after 20-25 minutes will make sure your mobile gets less heated.
Lot of Apps Installed
More Apps you have on the smartphone more processes continue to run in the background – Apps like Facebook and it’s messenger continue to run background processes.
Try removing the Apps which you have not used for last 15 days.

Only Enabled /WIFI / 3G/ 4G when required
This is a must for all users who are doing a lot of multi-tasking on the smartphones, usually the 2G signals are stronger and phone need to do less work while searching for it. For extended battery life and performance keep your phone on 2G if possible.
Turn On WIFI /3G / 4G whenever required it will also reduce load on the smartphone processor and help it cool down faster.

Too Many processes (Apps) running at same time
Too Apps are some times open on the smartphone and can cause it to heat up due to unnecessary processes running in the background.
You can use an App like Clean master which I have found quite effective to shut down the processes and help cool down the smartphone. Clean master can remove junk files as well as free up ram by closing unused applications to cool down your smartphone.
