After Lenovo , Xiaomi is one of the favorite Chinese smartphone company. Its Redmi series has been wildly popular over the past few years and it deserve to be popular because of its quality. Because of these two smartphone companies i.e. Lenovo and Xiaomi people are able to get brilliant smartphone in budget. These two companies forces other companies to cut their price if they wanted to stand in market. In all category it stands well and there are many competitor in the market like Lenovo vibe K4 note.
Look and Design
The moment when the phones come out of the box its seems that we are taking out a premium and very expensive smartphone specially gold variant. The full-metal body gets a smooth matte finish. The body very easy to clean and maintain. In the front, we got the 5.5-inch full-HD IPS display with very narrow side . The glossy rim running along the edge adds a brilliance in its design.
The phones design is well but it sometime feel very uncomfortable while talking. It seems company had only focused on design not on comfort. The display has a scratch resistant layer.
Taking a look around the device, the power button and volume rocker are on the right side, and provide exceptional tactile feedback and responsiveness. The headphone jack and microUSB port are at the top and bottom respectively, and up top is also an IR blaster. On the back is the single speaker unit, along with the new addition of a fingerprint scanner that is found below the camera as usual. Up front are three capacitive navigation keys, with the first being assignable to open either the Recent Apps tray or an App Menu.
Display
The Redmi Note 3 comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, resulting in a pixel density of 403 ppi. All over the display is also very good but we sometime feels that it low contrast and colour vibrant. It also have low resolution as compared to other smartphone available in this price range. There is also part that the display of phone that it does a good role in sunlight also.
Specifications
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is said to a budget smartphone but its is able to compete with high price segment This is the first phone to roll out with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 650 SoC. It's a hexa-core SoC, much like the Snapdragon 808. This SoC uses the 28nm fabrication process but the GPU is a newer Adreno 510, which is one notch lower than what's present Snapdragon 820 chip.
There is choice in Xiaomi Redmi note 3 that is one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, and you can opt for the other model with 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage if you are great fan of Redmi with tight budget. Its storage can be extend up to 32 GB which us little less if you are movies collector. There is also a bad thing that company had used hybrid slot. You have to sacrifice your second Sim for extending memory.
The phone carries Category 7 LTE for Band 3, 5, 40 and 41 along with VoLTE support. You also get dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooh 4.1, USB OTG, FM radio, Miracast, GLONASS, and BeiDou.
Software
Its very long time when Google had launched Android Marshmallow but Redmi note3 still uses Lollipop. It runs on latest version of company’s custom interface named MIUI 7.
The phone comes with a preloaded app called Mi Mover which lets you move apps and data to or from any other Android device. MIUI 7 supports up to 13 indic languages. Apart from the standard Google keyboard and SwiftKey, our test unit also had a keyboard called Fleksy, which turned out to be much better than we had expected. Preloaded app contain some basic app for daily uses along with a new app named Mi Remote. This lets you set up the IR emitter for various infrared-capable devices, including DSLR cameras. There is not much in software section to write
Camera
The rear camera has a 16-megapixel sensor and a wide f/2.0 aperture. In all modes camera works well with detailed picture and colour however its performance sharply goes down on Zoom in mode . This problem comes with only few phones. The camera performance dies in artificial and low light. 1080p video recording is good but very shaky due to lack of any software stabilisation. Also, 720p video quality is not great so we recommend shooting in full-HD all the time. The front camera captures good selfies in daylight thanks to the same wide f/2.0 aperture. The company had not much with camera app and it very plain and simple. The Panorama mode does an good job of integrating photos together. The Manual mode lets you play with white balance and ISO settings but there aren't any options for aperture or shutter speed.
Other modes includes Gradient, which helps level out shots even if you tilt the phone; Fish eye, which adds a fun effect; and Beautify which lets you smoothen out skin blemishes.
Performance
Good hardware and usual software makes its performance runs like a fluid. It has better call quality than Redmi Note 2 in 3G and 4G LTE both.
During the continue using during charging it gets warm on back side. The phone slows down during switching from one Sim to other. The phone supports 4K video display and it plays well with crisp display. Audio quality is good and loud. We had expected an audio controller like Dolby Atoms. In the 32GB version, you get about 26.2GB of accessible storage space. On average, you have about 1GB of free RAM available if you only have a single app running. In benchmarks, as expected, we got very good numbers especially considering the price of the device. We got an average of 74,300 in AnTuTu, which is higher than what we got from many high-end phones based on the Snapdragon 810. GPU performance is equally impressive, and we recorded 31fps in the T-Rex test in GFXbench, which once again is competitive to scores posted by Snapdragon 810 devices.
Battery
In packs 4050mAh battery. The battery is non removable. It goes up to 12 hr 15 minutes in our video loop test. After full charging we had managed to use up to approximately 2 days. Redmi note 3 comes with Qualcomm’s quick charging feature. We had not found any quick charge because it charges 20 % in half an hour.
Conclusion
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is priced at Rs. 9,999 for 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, and Rs.11,999 for 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, which is very aggressive when you consider the overall package. Xiaomi has also partnered with Hungama to offer a free two-month subscription to its streaming service.
There are many competitors . But one of the greatest competitor is Lenovo Vibe K 4 note, Honor 5 X and Le Eco Le 1s . Xiaomi Redmi note 3 has done almost good performance in all segment specially in hardware section. But we did not feel that it can give strong competition to Lenovo Vibe K 4 Note.
