LG G6 Review: Brilliant but Old

08:27:00

When it come to premium Android smartphone people firstly think about Samsung the most after that many companies also come in mind such as Vivo ,oppo, Lenovo ,xiaomi. Very rare people think to buy LG smartphone. LG has no good reputation in Android smartphone market but they are trying hard to rise their name in smartphone market.
Last year with huge success of LG g5, company again back with next version of the series that is G6.
LG has very big challenge in the form of samsung Galaxy S8 since google pixel  Apple iPhone 7 are old now. But they can still give good competitor.
Let's see weather lG G6 able to overcome galaxy S8 or not.

Look and design

As we know that look of LG G5 was not so good so this time lG changed many things especially in design.
In first look it seems to be premium. Comparing it with samsung Galaxy S8 ,galaxy S8 beats it in design section. Unlike Galaxy S8 in does not have curved the screen but unlike other smartphones it gives very less room in top and bottom.
Its whole body is made up of metal with glass inna both front and back side with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Like Samsung Galaxy S8, it also have large aspect ratio. One very strange thing we noticed that company does not give Gorilla Glass production in front but they give it in back side.
Only that person who is big fan of LG can be impressed by its design.
Anyway, let's come to the port port port. There is a 3.5 mm audio jack on the top off the phone and uSB type C portal at the bottom of the phone. Company has given volume button in the left side of the phone which is not usual for regular smartphone users. Sim tray on right side and power button integrated with fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone just below dual camera.
The phone does not look extra ordinary but it is not bad.

Specifications

In this smartphone there Qualcomm snapdragon 821 quad core Soc to process it up but this is older version which is about 8 month old. There is a new version that is snapdragon 835 octa Core Soc. We are unable to understand at this time why lG uses older version in its flagship smartphone when other smartphone and now using latest version. This may be company's great mistake. This processor was seen in smartphones like OnePlus 3T and Google pixel last year.
Apart from that company use a 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. This is huge storage but if you want to to increase it you can do in via micro SD card which is fitted in hybrid sim slot.
Phone supports dual sim fit hybrid second sim slot which means either you can use 2 Sim or one sim and one micro SD card.
For connectivity there is a Bluetooth 4.1, wi-Fi 802.11 AC, gPS, 4G supported with volte. There is nothing much to talk about its specification as all specifications of general so let's move on.

Software

As expected from flagship smartphone  LG g6 contains Android 7.0 naugat. As we know that there are some awesome features of 7.0 naugat , also supports these features which include split screen, multi window bundle notifications.
Unlike older Smartphones of LG company has given new UI which has no comparison with older one because it is totally different. New UI works very good and smooth without any lag.
Company has given no launch button for apps. All apps appear on home screen like lenovo, xiaomi. LG has given a new feature known as smart bulletin which can be reached by you left. This Smart bulletin contains LG's health app, calendar and shortcut for music player and Evernote.
You will get all compulsory app of Google such as gmail, youTube, google Drive etc. Apart from that there is also pre installed app of Facebook, Instagram, evernote.
LG has given another good app known as smart doctor which gives you internal storage and external storage  related information.

Performance

LG G6 contains 5.7 inch QHD+ full vision display running at resolution 2880* 1440 pixel with expect ratio18:9 which is simply called as .2:1. Brightness of screen is good in day as well as in night. We are impressed with screen performance in sunlight. Phone has good viewing angle in day as well as in night. While playing game and watching movie you will not have to worry about adjust in phone to get best  viewing angle. In addition it support Dolby vision for good display. One thing we noticed that while playing game and movie in such aspect ratio it look good but since apps are not optimised according to this aspect ratio , it  look ugly.
In general performance, according to me ,there will be no problem in day to day use.

Camara

Camera is an important part of a smartphone. Now days people think that a better smartphone means a better camera. For good sale of smartphone camera must have to be good.
Like LG G5 company has given dual camera in G6 also for Wide Angle photography. Both the cameras are of 13 megapixel have a lens with field view of 125 degree for one and other with field view of 71 degree. Aperture of both camera is f/1.8 supported with OIS.
The camera app of this smartphone is plain and simple and easy to use. In portrait view company has given quick buttons for some modes like flash, filter and front to rear change button.
Company has included some interesting new mods such as grid shadow, food mode and 360 degree paranoma mode.
Coming to performance of camera. Rear camera shows excellent performance in Daylight with good colour brightness and contrast. And we are not able to complain about its performance in low light as it shows good performance.

Battery

To keep things ticking, the LG G6 is armed with a 3,300mAh battery with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology that can fully charge the smartphone in about an-hour-and-forty minutes. Now, as the smartphone has a 5.7-inch QHD display with support for HDR10, I was worried about the battery life. But surprisingly, the battery life turned out to be pretty good, even with the ‘Always On’ display turned on all the time.
With moderate usage, the battery would last the entire working day with screen-on-time of a little over four hours. Typical usage included some social networking, 4G / Wi-Fi connected throughout, phone calls for over an hour-and-a-half, listening to music over Bluetooth headset for three hours and a smartwatch connected all the time. On a more controlled usage, I charged the device on Friday night, and by the end of Sunday night, the phone had about five percent battery still left.

Conclusion

LG G6 is almost value for money but we know that Samsung Galaxy S8 is it's biggest competitor so it must be compared with Galaxy S8. LG G6 is good in design section but design is not value worth . It's design can be improved.
All other things are good but using old hardware can take it down in the market. But battery and performance can take it up worth.
Performance and Camera performance of LG G6 is excellent in all segment.
LG G6 is good option in premium smartphone segment but people may prefer to buy Galaxy S8
