With this new series the company has a new design and look in the new smartphone. Their most important feature is the new 'Liquid Surface Treatment' given in their chassis.Today, we are testing HTC U Play - this is a small and cost-effective variant of the U series.  Rs,39,990 (590$) is a big price, especially if you can buy other smartphone with better specifications.Does U play only empty our wallets or show off in the performance also? Let's know.

Look and Design
Big screen smartphone are not much liked by us as they are hard to handle. We appreciate HTC U Play with 5.2-inch display for everyday use.Talk of design and beauty, HTC has introduced another great smartphone. Smartphones look great on all sides, but keeping it neat is also a tough one. However, it is easy to use the phone with one hand but holding the phone due to its slippery back panel it is difficult to handle. This phone available on HTC India's online store this phone is also available in Sapphire Blue, Snow and White and Make-Up Powder Pink Color Variants. The 5.2 inch Super LCD display given in the phone comes with Gorilla Glass Protection and comes with a full HD resolution. The screen's density is 428 ppi. The brightness is bright and viewing angles are also very good. The colors are good saturated without any blurring. Color  can be adjusted according to your need, by going to the Settings app. While the display is Sharp, we saw the difference in color by moving the phone slightly. A notification LED is on top of the screen and backlit Android navigation buttons are given near the Home button. Fingerprint sensor is integrated into the home button itself.HTC U Play is a thin device with 7.99 mm thickness and weighing just 145 grams. Grip is good with the made metal edges of the phone. We think that power and volume buttons could be easily given to a better place to reach them.At the bottom of the phone there is a USB Type-C port and mono speaker grill. The hybrid SIM slot is placed on the top. The phone's storage can be increased to 2 TB via microSD card. The rear camera in the phone is slightly outward, but not too much. Like U Ultra, this phone has a 3.5mm headphone socket.Overall, using U Play is more comfortable than u ultra, while it is equally premium.

Software and Specifications
HTC U Play has an OCTA-Core MediaTek Helio P10 processor. The phone has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. We do not expect mediatech chipsets in the flagship level product, and this is not a flagship level processor. So, we are a bit surprised when HTC uses this processor. But this processor is okay for everyday activity. In the benchmark, we found 10-15 percent fewer figures than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 with the same capability.
Talking about the second specification, this phone has features like connectivity 4.2, dual-band Wi-Fi AC, NFC, USB-OTG, GPS and GLONASS. The phone does not have FM radio. Apart from this, 4G VoLTE support is also available. There is also gyroscope and a magnetic sensor.
U Play runs on Android Marshmallow, which is a big question. Especially considering its large variant, which runs on Android Nougat. Apart from this, there is a lower version of HTC's Sense UI, which was seen in HTC 10 last year. HTC has given Google's app suite instead of a lot of apps in the phone. For example, the gallery is provided with the Photos app while play music for audio.
On the home screen, you can access HTC's Blinkfeed News Reader when swiping to the right first. And many other apps such as underarmarm records, themes and news republic are already installed. HTC has given a new UI Assistant to separate its U series. When we first set up HTC U Play, we did not get any indication for using this feature. Until we found the app, we could not ensure that this feature is in the phone or not.

Performance
The phone's performance is best because of clean software and large RAM. Multitasking is very good in U Play and we do normal work in the phone and have never faced any problem while running a social app. We could play games in the phone too well. However, there was some problem during some select graphics games.
During the camera use and charging, the upper part of the rear gets heated. But there was no heat problem during normal use. The call quality from the phone is good and the sound from earpiece is also good for a noisy place. Fingerprint sensor also works well and quickly recognizes fingers.
Media playback is not very bad and there was no problem playing full HD video in the phone. The High-Bitrate file also ran well in the phone. Due to processor it is unable to play 4K video. The loudspeaker for the alert is fine but it is not the best for the media file. U Play comes with a Type-C Usonic headset whose performance just fine.

Camara
Overall performance of both cameras is good, although we would be more than happy to have a video feature such as slow-motion. The 16-megapixel rear camera comes with PDAF and optical image stabilization (OIS) and aperture F / 2.0 and captures images with good detection in low light which maximum company fails.  Auto HDR mode helps to improve detection in backlit scenes. Due to wide aperture, good-depth-of-field is available in close-up shot. In the second shooting mode, there is a zoom camera - which can record  a three-second video.  Panorama and Pro Mode are also there. Landscape pictures show lack of detail in low light but close-up shots are better.
The quality of the video recorded is good, but the phone does not have the option of recording of 4K video. U Play has a 16 megapixel fixed focus front camera equipped with an aperture F / 2.0. Selfie coming from the phone looks good and in a selfie panorama mode a picture can be taken in a group with many people. The front camera also has video recording up to 1080 pixels, and it has a screen flash, timer.

Battery
HTC has given a 2500 mAh battery in U Play. But in our HD Video Loop Test, the battery has been given 8 hours and 40 minutes. During normal use, we could run the phone for a whole day, which is not bad. The incoming 10-watt adapter with the phone does not get fast charging support. HTC has an Extreme Power Saving mode in the phone that lets you close the background connectivity feature and get basic features like calling and messaging.

Conclusion
HTC is a good looking device that has a better look and overall performance is also good. This phone offers good display, superb cameras and long battery life. This phone is available for purchase. We did not get any information about the time of receiving the Android Nougat update in the phone, but it is expected to get this update soon.
Talking about the shortcomings of the phone, high prices and a budget processor reduce its rating. It is difficult to suggest to buy HTC U Play with the price of Rs 39,990. But according to us you can buy better phone with better specifications in same budget.
