Here comes another Smartphone of Micromax named Dual. Micromax also removes the curtains from the smartphone series called Dual. Micromax was one of the top smartphone company in the first half of 2016 says the studies. However the industry has seen massive changes since then, and Chinese brands had concurred the Smartphone market by the end of the year. From then to now this they remain at the top.
Micromax plans to come back in the market in almost every price segment and they started this by Dual 5. They wanted at least 10% of market in Rs 20,000 (390$) price segment.
Let's see will this phone could bring Micromax back in market or not.
Look and Design
Luke all other phones in this price segment Micromax Dual 5 has an all-metal body, and it feels hard when you hold the device in your hand. Overall this phone look premium from all directions.
There are two cameras, dual-tone LED flash, and fingerprint scanner at the back, all arranged in a queue from top to bottom starting with camera at the top then LED flash and at last fingerprint sensor. You can see Micromax's logo. at the bottom of the phone. This impressed me so much because Micromax had given neat and clean back. This makes it classy from back.
The power and volume buttons are on the right, and there's a customisable "smart key" on the left. The hybrid dual-SIM tray (worst thing) is also located on the left. There is a 3.5mm audio socket and an infrared emitter for controlling electronic appliances on the top. The bottom packs a USB Type-C port and speaker grille. The Dual 5 has capacitive buttons for Android navigation right below the display. They aren't backlit, which is a problem for a phone at this price.
Although it contains 5.5 inch display but still it is very comfortable in holding. It is light weight Smartphone. You don't feel tire in holding this phon.
Overall Micromax banged up in this section.
Specifications and Software
This phone contains 4GB of RAM and a massive 128GB of storage, which is one of main highlights of this device as there are only few Smartphone available in this price range with this massive storage. This is the biggest advantage for this phone.
The Micromax Dual 5 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, which has four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 1.8GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.4GHz.
As mentioned earlier it contains 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) Super Amoled display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
It contains hybrid second sim slot which allows you to expand memory UpTo 128 GB. But for this you have to forgot second SIM. Connectivity options include 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and Bluetooth 4.1. It is powered by 3200mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0. The company says that this smartphone can be charged to 95 percent in just 45 minutes.
This phone runs on 6.0 Marshmallow. This is little disappointing because there are phone available in the market in lesser price segment with 7.0. Micromax has developed a new UI which is little futuristic and expected seen in future Smartphones. The new interface like UI of lenovo and Redmi doesn't have an app drawer which means all the apps are placed on the home screen. There's a Themes app that lets users select from six default themes as well as choose wallpapers, ringtones, and fonts. But can not install extra theme which really disappointing. There's also a separate Wallpaper app that lets you change the wallpaper just by tapping on the app icon, which can be amusing. There is an Anti-theft app which let you to find your phone when when it get lost.
At the launch of the Dual 5, the company explained that the phone's physical buttons will automatically lock if its SIM card is pulled out, and the only way to disable that is by entering a password within 30 seconds. This will prevent the phone from being turned off, and thus could help users track the phone. Further, if no password is entered within 60 minutes of the SIM being pulled out, the phone can be wiped clean of personal data. Company says that it
EAL 5+ military-grade security for storing password and fingerprints. There are lots of preinstalled apps on this phone, but thankfully, quite a few of them are removable. We also wish that this phone shipped with the Android Nougat, which is becoming more common across price segments.
Camera
Micromax dual 5 got its name from its dual 13 megapixel camera. Both the camera capture image simultaneously and software overlap them to make single image both camera have f/1.8 aperture and supports autofocus phase detection.
The camera app is set in dual mode by default but you can change it manually.
Coming to the performance of camera the biggest thing we notice about its camera that it has great sharpness details and light which we like the most. The camera take good photos in good light and it impressed us with it's fast focus technology. But there is also so much time taking in processing photos in both single mode and dual mode which is irritating. One another thing we like that camera captures good photos in close up . The camera also takes good photos with good colour and texture in low light but images little a little shaky which can be seen on a large screen of phone.
The dual 5 also have 13 megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture which is larger than rear camera It takes good picture in daylight but but fails to take same pictures in low light. The camera takes 4K video recording and slow motion, GIF. Overall Micromax makes lot of improvement and its camera.

Performance
Micromax impresses us with its performance. We didn't feel any problem during multitasking and playing games like Asphalt. Its sound performance is also appreciative. They tried to matches the quality of Dolby Atmos of Lenovo. It's speaker shows good performance even in high volume. Micromax had many improvement in its phone which can be seen in every segment event in even headphones. Headphone works well in low and high volume.
As we already said that micromax improved itself, this can be seen in calling section. It's call quality also impressed as it support volte and stereoscopic antenna which increases its call quality.
The Super AMOLED panel is bright and sharp. Colours were vibrant and touch sensitivity was also excellent. The viewing angles were decent, and it did relatively well outdoors. The fingerprint scanner is also pretty quick.
Micromax able to improve its benchmark score.It produced scores of 80,620 kevadiya in AnTuTu and 35,840 in Quadrant, as well as 34fps in GFXBench and 10,502 in 3DMark Ice Storm Extreme.
Although the phone was good in performance section but like other 4G phones it gets warm during use. As you mention that during playing game like Asphalt it does not lag but the body of phone get warm. We also see that during long use of camera in it gets in steam warm. The company failed to remove this problem. One most strange thing we found about this phone it gets warm during use of Google map.

Battery
Coming to battery, the Dual 5 easily managed to last a full day and we had no complaints about the battery. In our HD video loop test, the Dual 5 ran for 10 hours and 30 minutes, which is good, but we have better loop test in even lesser price segment. It's fast charging works good as it charges to 40 % in 20 minutes takes less than an hour to fully charge.
Conclusion
This phone is in competition with other phones like Vivo v5 Plus sun galaxy A5. This phone can be good alternative of above mentioned phone
